1. Assist the Lead Teacher in creating an environment that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group. 2. Interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities. 3. Interact with the children at their eye level, bend over, lift, and sit on the floor to ensure appropriate activities are met. 4. Maintain a warm and safe classroom environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing which permits the child to grow and explore. 5. To use appropriate and positive discipline and to train the assistant teacher so that discipline is consistent. 6. Assist with planning lessons based on the developmentally appropriate curriculum guideline and to follow stated curriculum goals. 7. Closely supervise children on the playground, during specials, during activity events. 8. Function and help build a supportive, partnership team with other members of the staff. 9. To learn, understand and apply the Kentucky Curriculum Standards.
