“To preserve and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Hillhurst Sunnyside” Job Title: Daycare Manager (Maternity Leave, 12-18 months) Department: Childcare Reports to: Executive Director Hours: 35-40 hours/week Position Description: The Daycare Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Daycare. This includes maintaining the general well-being of the program and staff and overseeing appropriate supervision and safety practices. The Program Manager is the Pedagogical Educator/Coordinator for the program, and it is their role to foster the holistic well-being of each child while nurturing their sense of belonging and identity within safe, healthy, and responsive environments. (exclusive of top-up) - Fully licensed facility - Free parking - Seasonal outdoor pool pass - Well established facility - Community atmosphere in a fun and dynamic team Duties & Responsibilities Program Development o Support the Assistant Manager in implementing FLIGHT Curriculum and other emerging and best practices to ensure programs provide a vibrant and engaging experience for all children o Support The Assistant Manager in providing pedagogical guidance, observation and creating opportunities for self-reflection and goal- setting with educators through documentation o Create and foster opportunities for engagement across HSCA programs Reporting and Regulatory Requirements o Monthly reporting requirements (including grants) as needed o Maintain accurate and current records for Childcare Licensing and work collaboratively with Assistant Manager and OOSC Program Manager in the completion of renewal paperwork and processes o Follow documentation and reporting practices to ensure the health and safety of children and staff, as per our policies Financial Administration o Manage accounts payable o Record deposits and charges to family accounts o Payroll o Subsidy o Involvement in budgeting o Ensuring program spending is on track throughout the year Staff Leadership and Coaching o Ensure all human resource and regulatory requirements are accurate and current for all Daycare employees (e.g., first aid, police clearance, etc.) o Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management in collaboration with the Assistant Manager o Provide leadership and coaching to all daycare educators o Lead team meetings o Display exemplary work ethic, a kind demeanor, and a positive attitude Program Administration o Manage waitlist inquiries o Employee scheduling including vacation, lieu, and sick time oversite/approvals o Ensure program policies are accurate, current, and meet all regulatory requirements o Coordinate use of building space with other programs o Support the Assistant Manager in handling child/family/parent conflicts or concerns o Support the Assistant Manager with the registration and orientation of new children and parents Relationships and Engagement o Maintain positive and professional relationships with children, parents, staff, and other stakeholders o Work collaboratively with HSCA’s other programs and services o Ability to take on additional duties as needed, including on floor supervision of children Requirements • Proven experience as an Office Administrator, Office Manager, Childcare Manager, or other similar role • Child Care Supervisor certification • Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Acts & Regulations • Valid Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check • First Aid Certification • Familiarity with office management and basic accounting procedures • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office • Ability to quickly learn new software, procedures, and systems • Experience with human resource management • Knowledge of and proficiency with emergent curriculum planning • Familiarity with Timesaver or other similar software, an asset • Certificate or degree in administration or accounting, an asset • Experience working in a daycare, an asset Full vaccination against COVID-19 or regular proof of negative COVID-19 tests at the employee’s expense, is a condition of employment.
