Early Childhood Educator Job in Calgary, Alberta

Thornhill Child Care Society is recruiting dynamic Out of School Care Primary Educators for our program that runs in the Buffalo Rubbing Stone School in Panorama Hills in North West Calgary. Primary Staff work directly with the school aged children (grade 1-5) to facilitate their student led programming and ensure it is creative, innovative and active. Candidates much possess a fundamental understanding of the Alberta Accreditation for Early Learning and Child Care, understanding of the importance of developing physical literacy in school aged children and a fundamental understanding of emergent curriculum. Experience with Licensing and Health is also an asset as is previous experience with school aged children. Strong communication skills and the ability to develop supportive, respectful relationships with families is an expectation for the position. This position requires candidates to work a split shift (Monday-Thursday), availability for longer hours on Fridays, PD Days and Spring Break. Qualifications: Alberta Child Care qualifications with a preference given to those certified with CDW (Level 2) or CDS (Level 3) specifically with education in Early Childhood Development or an Elementary Degree. Current criminal record check that includes a vulnerable sector search (or willing to obtain) First aid/CPR certification specific to First Aid in Child Care (Or willing to obtain) Comfort with working outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain, snow and heat.
