Columbus Centre of Toronto is currently hiring for the following position at Casa Del Zotto Children’s Centre (3010 Dufferin Street): DAYCARE PROGRAM SUPERVISOR (FULL-TIME) Job Summary Under direction of the Manager of Children’s Services, the Daycare Program Supervisor assumes responsibility for the day to day operations of the childcare centre. The Supervisor oversees the program planning, working effectively with staff, working with families and children, connecting with the community, mentoring students and assuming administrative responsibilities related to the day to day operations of the childcare centre. The Daycare Program Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership in keeping with the philosophy of the ECE program as well as quality client service. Major Responsibilities •Responsible for ensuring that the centre meets all legal requirements, including licensing regulations •Assists manager in the development of child care programs and keeps up-to-date on issues relating to program design and delivery •Provides opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music •Provides supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities •Monitors teachers on a daily basis to ensure compliance with the Day Nursery Act. This includes ensuring a safe environment is provided for children in terms of their physical, emotional and cognitive development. •Communicates with parents and deals with questions or issues that arise; Resolves any problems between parents, teachers and children; Contracts with the City to ensure that the daycare is complying with policies and requirements to keep the business license and provide a safe atmosphere for the children •Assesses the developmental level of children •Responsible for updating policies and procedures required by the Ministry, Public Health, City of Toronto Children’s Services and Columbus Centre •Updates and trains staff on policies and procedures •Monitors staff to ensure proper forms are being completed and records are complete •Inputs electronically, subsidy attendance on a monthly basis and follows- up to ensure that accounts are up to date •Responsible for the review and documentation of staff behaviour management, according to the childcare policy and Ministry requirements •Prepares progress reports and discusses same with parents and staff •Provides scheduling and orientation for full-time/part-time staff, student interns and volunteers •Coordinates with Human Resources Department for new/replacement staff •Conducts performance reviews as part of the annual appraisal for each caregiver and all other centre employees. •Utilizes services of approved temporary staffing agencies for short-term staffing requirements •Interviews potential clients, provides tours of daycare facility and registers children •Attends and organizes monthly staff meetings •Maintains the health and safety of the children including implementing monthly fire drills Qualifications: Qualifications Required •Early Childhood Education Diploma or degree •Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Education •Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act and licensing and legislative compliance •Familiar with ELECT curriculum •Previous supervisory and leadership experience •Experience working with toddlers to school-age children •Solid understanding of child development •Demonstrates ability to maintain an effective work relationship with families, colleagues, service providers, and regulatory program advisors •Excellent oral and written communication skills •Fluent in English, both oral and written •Knowledge of Italian language and/or Italian Canadian community, considered an asset •Current First Aid/CPR certificate •Current Criminal Reference Check Report Application Details We thank all candidates for their interest, however only those that most closely match job specifications will be contacted.
