The Team: Ready, Set, Go! Preschools The Role: Early Childhood Educator – Full Time Contract (11 months) Here at Trellis Society's Ready, Set Go! We help children be the best they can be. Our program offers children a safe and stimulating learning experience, involving a great deal of both indoor and outdoor play. Have fun planning programs in a variety of ways - through play and exploration, through books and sensory experiences, through listening and creating. Execute activities while focusing on building relationships and social emotional learning. Schedule: Monday to Friday (Schedule TBD) Staring Salary: $21-22.50/hour government top up Tasks & Responsibilities: - Supporting teachers across all sites in planning and providing inclusive and diverse programming including peer mentorship and collaborative curriculum development - Develop plans to meet the specific needs of individual children when necessary - Identify developmental delays and making recommendations for screening - Providing coverage and support for preschool classes to allow balance for preparation and training across sites - Strategic partnership and planning alongside site managers to develop and enhance the program - Involve parents in various aspects of the program as volunteers, such as early literacy activities - Suggest developmentally appropriate activities for parent and child to engage in at home - Build relationships with local schools and agencies to raise awareness of the program and assist with referrals into the program - Model constructive behaviour management techniques, positive parents’ strategies, good communication skills, and healthy problem-solving strategies - Complete administration duties including monthly program updates, collecting monthly preschool fees, record keeping and developmental tools (Age & Stages Questionnaire) - Work in partnership with other agencies whenever necessary - Participate in supervision and staff meetings with your supervisor as required - Provide a safe and supportive environment for children and youth and encourage them to express their feeling, needs and desires - Mentor and guide support staff to ensure a consistent standard of care What You’ll Bring to The Role: - Early Childhood Diploma or equivalent education and experience - A minimum of 2 years experience working with preschool/kindergarten aged children and their families - In-depth understanding of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations - Able to work in a respectful and ethical manner and with a strengths-based approach - Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills - Must have at least a Level 3 Child Care Certification through the Government of Alberta - Must have current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C - Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (CRIM) and a clear Intervention Record Check (IRC) What Trellis Offers: We provide people with meaningful work and are committed to offering equitable total compensation to all staff.
