Role and Responsibilities Tending to and fostering the holistic well-being, growth, and development of children ages 1-5 years old in a multiage environment. Supporting children’s intellectual, emotional, spiritual, creative, physical, and social needs. Teaching and engaging children in learning through wonder and imagination. Cultivating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment within the classroom. Diapering, assisting with toileting or feeding, assisting children who need more support. Supervision of children in an outdoor environments. Observing children for any signs of atypical behaviours or development. Attention to the particular needs/interests of each child and ability to problem solve/adjust teaching/interactions according to perceived needs/interests. Flexible lesson planning and guiding children through the daily rhythms. Leading circle times (reading, singing, meditation, dance). Lead nature walks and prioritize time spent outdoors Work collaboratively with other staff and community service providers. Model and guide children towards desirable character (kindness, care, gentleness, respect, patience, self-control, focus, listening, responsibility, helpfulness, joy, gratitude, etc.) Model and guide children towards desirable behaviour (cleaning up after oneself, proper hygiene, quality habits, etc.) Preparation of simple reports for parents and discussion of child’s growth and development with parents and staff.
