We help create healthy, connected, and diverse communities where everyone can grow, develop, and lead meaningful lives. ******Part-time 20 hrs/wk Mon-Fri 8-9am, 2:30-5:30pm Permanent********* The Senior Educator is responsible for: -planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and providing care for school aged children in a group setting -providing leadership and guidance to staff, volunteers, and students. -ensuring the facility fits within the philosophy and standards of a school aged care program. Qualifications: -Post-secondary courses in a related field ie. child and youth, recreation, school age care. -Responsible Adult certificate or completion of a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition. -Two (2) years’ experience working with school aged children. -Six (6) months supervisory experience. -Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. -Valid approved first aid certificate. -Must be 19 years of age or older. -Criminal record review. -Proof of Covid-19 vaccination Job Skills and Abilities: 1. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, facilitation and problem-solving skills. 4. Good organization, time and general management skills. 5. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as a contributing member. 6. Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with children, their families, and co-workers. 7. Retirement Pension: When eligible, a full-time employee will be enrolled in the Municipal Pension Plan with a matching contribution by SSCS.
