My greater awareness of the changing roles of children and family in a variety of contexts from local to global is clearly reflected in my work. I strive to build relationships with families in which I can respond to the stresses and joys of family life in our society, building a program in which all families will feel safe, welcomed, and empowered. As a student of George Brown College I am fully versed in emergent teaching principles, and excelled in my ECE foundation courses. One of my greatest strengths as an ECE is my ability to responsively plan through careful observation of the children in my care. I have had many opportunities to learn and collaborate with staff at some of the most highly rated child care centers in my nearly 4 years of experience in the field of ECE. I have had the opportunity to work at a Toronto District School Board special needs school where I was able to adapt the TDSB curriculum and emergent curriculum theories to enhance and reflect the needs of the children and to create, enrich and extend experiences and include them in the community.
