Early Childhood Educator in Brampton, Ontario

I worked as an Early Childhood Assistant with Bright Horizons Childcare for one year, from September 2013 to September 2014 where i worked as Early childhood Assistant with the infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers and school age groups. the major roles i played included leading children in activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, preparing craft materials and demonstrating their use. my role also included guiding and assisting children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits as well as assess the skills, abilities, interest and needs of the children which are documented and discussed with both lead teacher and parents. I worked as a Co-operative Resource Student Teacher with Resource Consultants at the Humber College Childcare and the Brampton Caledon Community Organization. I was involved in providing support, consultation and strategies to the childcare centres. I have also had the opportunity to support children and families in obtaining resources and services within their community, while also providing recommendations to support a child\'s developmental skills. I have worked with other professionals in the field and conducted meetings with families so as to prepare well written assessment reports for the child. I participate well in various community projects which are beneficial to children and families and I have learnt to use critical reflection to understand parent’s priorities in an on-going manner. I have a strong knowledge and experience in providing information and referral services to families as well as provide other individual and group support activities to ensure inclusion. Presently I work with East York East Toronto Family Resources as a Program Staff where I support newcomer families and their children for a Ready for School Connect Program.
