Early Childhood Educator in Whitby, Ontario

As an Early Childhood Educator, I engage with children and teachers almost daily. I have completed my ECE at George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario and am currently taking an Advanced Special Needs Training course to advanced my education in this field. On top of that, I am currently volunteering at The Hospital for Sick Children. One of my roles is to assist an special needs volunteer and help him be able to reach his goals in his position as a volunteer. I also am a volunteer in the Samsung Lounge. This lounge is geared towards toddlers where they can read, play, and learn. I help encourage children to take part in the games and set up activities to help make them feel comfortable and more at home. I believe to be a successful teacher you need to be flexible, accessible, and have a strong love for learning. In a great teacher's classroom, each person's ideas and opinions are valued. I will create a welcoming environment for all students. As a teacher, I will assess my teaching throughout the lessons and find new ways to present the material to make sure every student understands the key concepts. I view collaboration as a way to learn from fellow professionals. This way I can use constructive criticism and advice to grow as a educator. Throughout my placements at different Early Learning Centres, I learned how to lead transitions and daily routines for children. I also planned daily curriculum for indoor and outdoor learning experiences that engaged all children. My college education also taught me how to build lesson plans and individualized education plans for students. Dealing with children daily has helped me grow and become a patient, flexible, assertive, and efficient individual.
