My personal philosophy I believe that a responsive environment is a very important part of any child’s development, weather in the home the childcare center or school. Children needs a responsive environment in order to tunnel their interest and to give them what they are needing as their needs changes from time, I believe that an early learning and child care environment can offer child a place where they are safe! properly cared for, a place where they are able to freely express themselves, without fear of being put down or picked on. A place where they can have their developmental needs met, their social, emotional, cognitive, gross and fine motor needs. A place where their inputs and voice are taken seriously, where it’s taken into consideration and used. A place where they have a sense of belonging, where they feel welcome and can see things that they care about present in the environment. I believe the environment that I want to create will be flexible in order to cater to the need of the children, an environment that has familiar things, one that is responsive and environment that changes based on their needs, An environment that is inclusive of all children regardless of their ability e.g. (special needs). An environment that incorporates natural material, one that is just as enriching outdoor as it is in doors. An environment that includes their thought and ideas. I believe that children and families are very important part of any ELCC programs and should be treated as such. I believe that Children and families should be included in decision making process or changes to be implemented in their center. I believe that my role of an early childhood educator in the community is to build meaningful connection with community as the services that is being offered for children and families. I believe that my role of an early childhood educator in the community is to advocate for the rights of children, no matter their sex, age religious belief and social economic status. My role as an early childhood educator in the community is to educate our community members so that they are aware of the type of services that we provide. I believe that that my role as an early childhood educator in the community is to find out resources that are available to children and families. To extend an invitation to bridge the gap between community and families, by taking the children to visit social places, like elderly, homes, Fire Station, Police Station just to name a few, to build meaningful relationship for the children and to help them build a long-lasting love for their communities. I believe I bring qualities that allows me to view children as who they are not creating barriers for them, I believe that children are mighty learner with the ability to make decision and asses risk on their own. I believe that I bring qualities that supports the work of theorist as Jean Piaget that enhance the nature of human intelligence and how children will acquire knowledge giving children the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop intelligence through their environment and Bronfenbrenner’s who talks about the environments role in the development of the child. I bring qualities that emphasis the quality of the environment in children development as they learn from their environment. I believe that I bring qualities that will help child with social skills so that they are building meaningful relationship with those around them.
