I successfully finished three field placement and gained valuable experience working with children who are toddlers, preschoolers, and school age. I enjoyed and had passion for working with children. As an emerging Early Childhood Professional, I believe in responsive and inclusive program planning for all the children and often plan activities based on the observation of childrenâs interest, their level of developmental domain and curriculum. I always have built a positive interaction with children and often encourage children in developing their self-help skills. I often work as a team with staff members when planning the activities for children and often collaborate with all the level of personnel. I was helping educator with their planned activity and often initiated to facilitate staff with daily routines such as preparing and setting up the table during lunch and snack time, during transition time and assisted educator with changing diaper and toilet training. I also have experience cleaning and organizing play material and the environment for children to play with and supported Early childhood educator with supervising children for their safety during indoor and outdoor play. I have guided children inappropriate behavior by using simple words and reminding the children of appropriate behavior. I learned to build a positive relationship with the family of the children, by discussing with the parents about the interesting thing that the childâs progress or issues
I have about one valuable field placement experience working with children with behaviour issues due to their mild intellectual disability who are in the school age. I gained experience working within the public school setting in a special education classroom with seven children. The children are in grade 5 and 6 but, their cognitive, social, emotional, communication language and literacy level are at grade 2 level, I discussed and received feedback from Teacher and Child Youth worker within the classroom when planning activities for children based on their capabilities. I often included all the children in activities when it is performed because I believe in responsive and inclusive practice. I guided children behaviour by reinforcing and reminding children about positive behaviour, and by also reminding them of the consequences for it to regulate their behavior. I also planned activities for children based on the social skills to further enhance their knowledge about it. I enjoyed and obtained appreciated experience working with children with special education.
