Early Childhood Educator in Whitby, Ontario

I am currently volunteering in Tendertouch Home Daycare Centre as a supply Early Childhood Educator Prior to that, I worked as the Supervisor/head of a Daycare and Nursery school. I obtained my Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Education (with high honours) at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Science and possess about 5 years’ experience in childcare as well as curriculum development/implementation. As Centre head/Supervisor at The Curia Regis School, part of my achievement was to create and implement a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for all childcare and related functions at the centre. This contributed significantly to the success factor of the centre as one most sought after by parents desiring high quality childcare services. The school recorded significant growth in numbers to become a foremost childcare facility in Lagos Nigeria. In addition, our excellent childcare services were outsourced to large corporations who set up childcare facilities within their office premises as part of staff welfare programs. The centre provided the professional services by sending well-trained and competent caregivers to operate them. It was my responsibility to ensure that the Early Years Curriculum (EYFS) with strong foundations in Literacy (language development and communication) and Numeracy (mathematics, logic and problem solving) was well delivered and that the centre’s young students were very well prepared to progress onto elementary school at the age of 5 years. With the British National Curriculum’s emphasis on equity and diversity (Every Child Matters) it was my also responsibility to ensure “no child was left behind” in and out of the classroom. I understand child development and have a good knowledge of Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), The Early Childhood Educators Act and approved Regional practices. I also understand equity, fairness and inclusion; I recognise that there is strength in difference and always ensured all children, even the youngest of them, felt secure, welcome and celebrated at all times.
