Early Childhood Educator in Brampton, Ontario

I'm an
Agency / Company
I am excited to apply for the position of Registered Early Childhood Educator. I enjoy a fast-paced environment and meaningful work that is challenging and varied. Learning is always on the agenda and I enjoy trying new things. I believe in maintaining a growth mindset and pressing my Turbo button in challenging situations. This means that if I need knowledge or a skill that I don’t already have, I can attain it or learn it and be successful. When the pressure is on and the work is adding up, that is when I thrive. As a former homeschooling, working and volunteering mother of four children, multitasking is just part of my nature. Details are important to me as well as the overall picture, especially when so many people are depending on me. I instill of a love of learning in my children because I believe that we need to constantly be learning and improving. I enjoy learning new information and concepts as well as learning about different people, cultures and places. Reading is how I treat myself, and I also enjoy a healthy lifestyle with lots of physical activity. Community and individuals are important parts of my life. I have dedicated many hours to providing children’s programming and camp programs in my city. I also help to run a monthly program at a local Abused Women and Children’s Centre and a community outreach program in a Brampton community. My volunteer experience at my church has given me plenty of experience in many areas including working on a team, managing a team, event planning, interpersonal communications, mass calling, time management\deadlines and most importantly, a commitment to excellence in everything I do. I look forward to discussing this opportunity further with you and anticipate the interview process. Sincerely, Janet Hotchkiss Hello there! We have just briefly met over in my cover letter, but I’d like to take this opportunity to have you get to know me just a little bit better. There are so many interesting and valuable parts of me that just don’t fit into either a cover letter or a resume. Or maybe they are there but they get lost in the formatting. My solution, so you can still learn all about the best parts of me, is to include this handy dandy one-page highlight sheet where you can find all those juicy tidbits all laid out together. So, here we go! • Actively pursing knowledge by enrolling in online courses! They include Special Needs, Autism Awareness, Dyslexia Therapist and more. • Determined to overcome fears and status quo by pushing myself to try new things and get out of my comfort zone, thinking and acting outside the box. For example, traveling on my own, zip lining and going on rides I’ve always been terrified of, spelunking and leaving a bad relationship to start a new life as a single parent. • I have independently enrolled myself in and completed 107 hours of professional development between August 29th 2016 and June 12, 2018 and received a Life Long Learning certificate two years in a row from Child Development Resource Connection Peel as part of their Raising the Bar: Early Childhood Education - A quality initiative in Peel. • Have successfully ran medium to large events including planning, budgeting, timelines, scheduling, working with teams, set-up and tear-down, problem solving, stage managing, leading with a mic and general hands on managing during the event. • Boldly made hundreds of phone calls to invite people to events • Maintained a strict schedule while driving my bus route, and had the cleanest bus in the fleet • Wrote and taught my own programming for Infant, toddler and preschool classes at my church, for elementary/high school aged children at my Homeschool Co-op and for my own children’s home schooling • Have managed teams of volunteers in my church and at work • Active in the community by volunteering at a local abused women’s and children shelter and participating in a community outreach program one Saturday each a month • Consistently on time and take very few sick/personal days • Multitasking is second nature as a mother of four homeschooled children who works and volunteers • I have a great sense of humour “So”, you might be asking. “What does all this have to do with my organization?” So glad you asked! If you hire me to work for you, you can expect that I will manage your organization’s resources well by always being on time and not leaving early or abusing paid sick days to get my nails done. The general atmosphere will be pleasant because I am fun to be around and genuinely care about and work well with others. I work just as well on my own without supervision as I do with a team, so you won’t need to spend countless hours micro managing me. Given the opportunity I will learn and adapt quickly and complete tasks or assignments with excellence. I will do what it takes to be successful. I have a growth mindset and a love of learning. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and I hope to have the opportunity to better get to know you and your organization soon. Enjoy the resume and I can’t wait for the opportunity to meet with you and discuss more in depth how I can benefit your centre. Sincerest Regards
