Early Childhood Educator in Markham, Ontario
I'm an
Agency / Company
As an individual who has graduated from the Child and Youth Care program at Ryerson University, I believe my outstanding analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills will make me a great fit for this role. These skills have been well developed through the various organizations I have worked in, as well as during my time as a placement student, and through volunteer work.
I have worked as a teacher’s assistant in a preschool setting. I am confident that I will be able to continue utilizing the skills and knowledge I’ve developed. With constructive criticism and feedback given to me by ECEs, I’ve been able to adapt my teaching methods to accommodate learning styles and ensure each child will comprehend the information in the manner that best suits them. I have well developed skills in leadership and organization through helping promote and prepare engaging educational games and supervising hands on activities that encourage participation and socialization with peers. Lastly, my communication skills are exemplary and have been well developed through using effective communication strategies with children of various age groups and what is appropriate for their developmental needs
Working as a noon hour assistant in a developmental disabilities classroom alongside early childhood educators at Downsivew Secondary School, it has enhanced my ability to work in chaotic situations while still maintaining patience and understanding while managing difficult children, their learning needs and behaviours.
As a summer camp counsellor at the Geneva Centre for Autism, I further built on my interpersonal and excellent communication skills through working with children on a one to one ratio. I provided direct care and support to the children, and appropriately communicated with children who were verbal or non-verbal and low or high functioning, as well communicating with other staff, my supervisors, parents, and the community. I had also taught and encouraged the children to develop new skills, build new relationships, and be a part of an inclusive recreational community. I was able to provide the children with an enjoyable camp experience, as well as work towards a child’s personal goals which were developed by their parents and myself.
I believe my hardworking and outgoing personality, along with my motivation to work effectively with others and continually improve makes me a great fit for this role.
