Early Childhood Educator in Cold Lake, Alberta

Since the 10th grade, I have volunteered in elementary schools every day for work experience. I knew I wanted to work with children and teach them in some way so it was great experience for me. I helped kids with reading and other areas they were struggling in and it was very rewarding to watch them succeed with that little extra help. I also helped the teachers with in class activities and whatever else that was needed to be done. For the last nine months now I have been working at a licensed daycare here in Alberta. I work in the after school care room (kindergarten) but while they are at school I bounce from room to room during the day and work with all ages from 8 months to pre-k age. At the daycare I work at, we do have some special needs children that I see on a daily basis. They do have an aid working with them every day, but I definitely enjoy being around these children and I would be very open to getting more involved with them as individuals. I find it very rewarding to find out what works best for that individual, and applying that knowledge in order to help them learn and succeed to the best of their ability. It would be nice to broaden my experience with special needs children.
