Early childhood educator in Ottawa, Ontario

I recently finished working as an Early Childhood Educator in a kindergarten classroom within the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board (PVNCCDSB). I have relocated to Ottawa and I am hoping for a position that will provide me the opportunity to continue to develop my skills as an educator. I believe that my prior experience working in both daycare and school settings makes me a strong candidate for this field.

I graduated from Trent University in June 2013 with a joint major in Psychology and Anthropology. This provided me with an educational background in child development, which ignited my passion and desire to work with children. I continued my studies at Fleming Colleges Early Childhood Education program, starting in September 2013 and graduating in June 2015. Throughout this program, I was able to gain experience during placements with both toddlers and school agers. Applying both the FDLK and ELECT documents, I was able to create age appropriate experiences based on my observational assessment of each childs developmental needs. Upon graduating, I was hired as a Supply Early Childhood Educator at PVNCCDSB. I was able to support the teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate activities. My responsibilities also involved observing, monitoring, and supporting the children throughout the day.

In November 2015, I was provided with the opportunity to work as a Long-Term Occasional (LTO) Early Childhood Educator at Holy Family Catholic Elementary School in Bowmanville. Although this assignment was only six weeks, I was able to become immersed into a consistent position where I was able to collaborate and support the kindergarten teacher on a daily basis. In January 2016, I was assigned to my current LTO position at St. Catherine Elementary School in Peterborough. In this position, it is my responsibility to plan and implement literacy, math and science activities that are tailored to the childrens expressed areas of interest. My responsibilities have allowed me to become more comfortable in communicating daily with parents, assisting children with academic support outside of the school, and producing documentation on a daily bases. Using the documentation that I collect, I am able to make the required curriculum connections between the FDLK and the childs learning needs.

I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss this position with you and set up an interview. If you have questions, please contact me by phone at 705-313-... or by e-mail at ...@gmail.com.
