Hello, I’m Nicole, a 26 year old Australian; I have just arrived in Canada on a two year work Visa and am excited for all of the outdoor fun and beautiful mountains/lakes Canada has to explore. I am currently in whistler and would love to make my way out to commence work in the rocky region. I have been fortunate enough to spend the majority of the past seven years working alongside a reflective, inspiring, passionate team of educators that have worked incredibly hard in transitioning from routine based care towards a curriculum founded entirely on the sequence or flow of critical rituals. This transition is working towards what we as a team believed to be best practice and I feel played a critical role in becoming a service that was awarded with a rating that exceeds Australian national quality standards. My personal pedagogy is fundamentally inspired by a combination of reggio emilia principles, Emmi Picklers approach and the RIE philosophy, this approach is based on respectful relationships between adults and children through gentle interactions, freedom of movement, naturally paced motor development and time for uninterrupted play. I believe this in combination with purposeful environments is imperative to building close, trusting relationships and empowering little people to become their own agents of learning; to be confident in their abilities of self-regulation, to make both individual and group decisions about matters that affect them and to believe in themselves as confident, capable human beings that make a valued contribution to society.
