Early Childhood Educator in Calgary, Alberta

I'm an
Individual
I am a British Early Childhood Education teacher (UDIMA degree) with more than 10 years experience working with children in different roles and environments. I also hold a degree in Social Work. I have dual British/Spanish nationality as I was born in Valencia, Spain, but my father is a British Citizen so I hold a UK and Spanish Passport. I have travelled and worked in many English speaking countries in different positions for the past 7 years. These experiences have enriched my repertoire of skills, including excellent communication, imagination in creating diverse activities to achieve complex goals, along with flexibility and adaptability to different situations and groups of children. I am looking for any kind of job that involves working with children: pre-school, daycare, kindergarten, etc. I am happy to move around Alberta if the right oportunity comes. I lived and worked as a Concierge in Canada (AB and BC) from 2018 till 2020. At the moment I am back in Spain and looking to move back to that beautiful country, this time to work as a teacher. I do not hold a work visa but looking into arrange it via Young Professionals/Express Entry, for which I need a job offer or sponsor. I would highlight my skills in the following areas: - Implementation of cooperative and collaborative pedagogy, using games, nature, arts, and science to motivate children. - Use of different resources to respond to diverse groups of students´ needs. - Ability to coordinate with other teachers and to communicate effectively with the children´s families. - Effective management of teaching tools to optimize the learning process. - Adaptability to the demands of different curriculums, environments and students. During my working experience at Kristin School in New Zealand I learned the basics of English language teaching. We used a phonetic methodology that proved to be very efficient. My teaching model was based on cooperation, always creating activities in which the children themselves were directors of their learning process. With the right programme of activities and very light guidelines, the students learnt rapidly and progressively, participating and encouraging others to participate, proving that this approach promoted solidarity, support and companionship within the group. I am a bilingual in spoken and written English and Spanish, and I have good command of other languages, such as French and Italian. I also have a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) level 5 diploma, certified by the TEFL Academy. The certificate is regulated by Ofqual (UK government). This qualification is at the same level as the CELTA and Trinity CertTESOL. My degree in Social Work and my time working at a Children’s Day Care Centre allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the complex situations that the students and their families can go through, and how to deal with them in the best possible way. This experience made me develop outstanding skills to manage problems effectively, from a very understanding and caring approach. Throughout my life I have achieved other abilities and obtained qualifications of a non academic nature which help to make up my portfolio of experiences. I have travelled widely in Australia and along The Great Barrier Reef, Queensland and the Northern Territories, and out onto some of the islands of The South Pacific. I have climbed and skied in The Canadian Rockies along with crossing Canada by car. I have hiked, walked and skied in many areas of New Zealand, Spain and Switzerland. I am a qualified Open Water SCUBA Diver, I studied dramatic arts for 3 years and performed at hotels and resorts many times.
