My name is Katie Paquette and I have worked at two separate Montessori Preschools for a total of four years, I have worked in childcare for a total of eight years. I have a level 2 Child Care Worker certificate, my first aid certificate, I'm certified in CPR, I also have a Montessori Teacher Diploma and a TEFL Certificate. I was a child care provider at Laurier Heights out of school care. I have shared the responsibilities with 2 other teachers in our classroom of 28 children from grades 1 and 2. I was most recently working in the kindergarten room with ages 4-6. We made plans through observation and guided towards the childrens interests, In my position as a Montessori teacher at Montessori & Me, I was responsible for modeling and guiding a respectful and safe environment. I created bi-weekly lesson plans for 10 to 14 students between the ages of 2&1/2 to 6. I was responsible for monitoring the supplies in the school and the organization of all areas including, the Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, and Culture areas along with the library and toy room. I guided learning in a group setting at circle time and individually during Montessori work time, dividing my attention among each child equally while supervising the classroom as a whole for safety. In my position as an after school teacher at McKee out-of-school care I supervised children from kindergarten to grade six. I did the after school programming for the kindergarten children. I lead discussions and incorporated the children's interests in the weekly program. I guided singing, craft, physical exercise and free time for the kindergarten group, I also incorporated a french day and a respect day in the week. In my position as a preschool teacher for Montessori School Inc. , I taught children ages three to five in many different subjects from geography and history to mathematics and language skills. I led story time, singing and crafts, along with practical life activities. I was also responsible for communicating effectively with my boss, co-workers and parents on the progress and potential of each student. Here are a list of my responsibilities: -Work with parents and a team of teachers to create a challenging learning environment for each student -Scaffolded learning to allow students to achieve success -Created a physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe space for students through the use of clear and consistent guidelines for behaviour. -Guided students to maintain a clean classroom - Instruct class in activities -Organize and lead students in songs, games, and crafts - Performed administrative tasks necessary to the school -Organized and prepared learning materials - Responsible for programming learning opportunities for the kindergarten after school group -In charge of monthly child attendance records -Monitor and replenish materials - Collaboratively develop lessons in science, craft and areas of student interests for kindergarten to grade six age groups
