Early Childhood Educator in Burlington, Ontario

Hi there - I was out of the ECE field for about 3 years, working full-time for a financial corporation as I was looking to put myself in better financial circumstances. I’m currently working for a financial institution (again) since my maternity leave ended. I moved away from Toronto Ontario, therefore leaving me to find other opportunities that were closer to me, to better care for my son. Before my maternity leave, I was working as a Preschool Teacher for Wychwood Tigers Daycare in Toronto, Ontario. I was in good standing with the college of ECEs, and am currently working on being instated so that I can do what I was born to do, and that is to educate children. I have over 3 years worth of experience; full-time, with a school board (YRDSB), as well as placements I did in college, back in 2009. All of these experiences, though short, have taught me that being an ECE is not easy, but absolutely worth it. At a private preschool in Burlington, I was the secondary teacher in the Junior classroom, and was promoted to being the main teacher in the Senior classroom after 3 months. The private daycare centre I was at in Vaughan, had me positioned as the secondary ECE in the classroom. At the non-profit daycare centre, which is Wychwood Tigers Daycare Centre, I worked a split-shift in the kindergarten classroom, doing the before & after school program, being the lead teacher in that. As I began looking for a more full-time permanent position, I was hired by the school board, York Region District School Board, and worked as a casual RECE, until receiving a part-time position in a classroom, which allowed me to stay as a casual at Wychwood Tigers Daycare Centre. As working two jobs, in two different cities was a little challenging, I was offered and promoted to a Preschool Teacher position at Wychwood Tigers Daycare Centre. Since moving to Dundas, Ontario during my maternity leave, I’m now hoping to find a centre I can grow with and do what I’m meant to do.
