Early Childhood Educator in Barrie, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
I knew from a very early age that I had a gift with children. I am very passionate about them and believe that they need a stable, nurturing, environment so that they develop into successful adults. I always go above and beyond my job description and really take a personalized approach for each and every student in my class. I check all the boxes for what is expected in my role as a teacher; I am professional, caring, gentle, fun, and patient. I have excellent communication skills and always make sure that the parents and I are on the same page with their child’s growth and development. I set appropriate boundaries for the children and always provide a safe environment for them. I build strong relationships with the children in my classrooms, I am highly engaged in their development and truly care and love each child for their unique personality. I am creative and love coming up with different, fun art and sensory stimulation activities for the children to participate and stay engaged in. I am very observant with all the children in my class and know which ones are doing well with vocabulary and numbers and which ones have been demonstrating development in behaviors like sharing, empathy, and social interaction. I have a calm demeanor and always try to keep my classroom clean, organized and structured, even when I have 10 busy toddlers in my care. I am reliable and responsible and I take my job very seriously. I take the time to write detailed progress reports twice a year about the children’s growth and development in my class so that the parents are aware of how their child is progressing. I also complete ELECT programming every week to outline age appropriate short group activities, gross motor activities, outdoor activities, creative arts and sensory activities as well as science and language. I provide a fun and engaging learning circle on a daily basis that the children love to sing along to songs, and read stories. I have had the privilege of teaching Infants ages 5 months – 18 months, and toddlers ages 18 months- 24 months over the past two years. Every classroom comes with its own challenges but I have embraced those challenges, found solutions and can truly say that I love what I do. I am a team player who demonstrates a strong ability to work in a group settings and can also strive individually. It brings me so much joy to be around the children on a daily basis. I find myself missing them when they are away or we are off on holidays, which further demonstrates my connection and passion for my job. I take the time to get to know each and every child’s personality and always make sure that their individual needs are being met. I have been told that I treat the children as if they were my own and I believe that is what the children in my class deserve. I make sure that they feel special on their birthdays and that they have something they made to bring home for their Mom and Dad on Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and holidays such as Christmas, Valentines Day, and more. I am always there to offer hugs, and comfort when they need it. I am well educated. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in education at Lakehead University and then went on to complete two years at Georgian College for Child and Youth Work. I participated in workshops with a focus on toddlers, infants, and preschool age children to continue my education. I am always willing to expand my knowledge, and feel it is necessary to learn new techniques and skills to stay fresh, to provide the best education for the children I am teaching. In my mind, I stand out as one of those rare people who truly loves their job, and this passion is reflected in the outstanding work I do.
