Early Childhood Educator in Calgary, Alberta

I have been teaching over 20 years and have experience in a variety of settings including public, Catholic and reserve. My husband has been transferred several times over the course of my career so I've had the opportunity to work as a resource teacher, special needs teacher, elementary generalist and music teacher. I presently teach music k - 3 in a private school. I love it but I'm looking for a full time teaching position. I have experience working inside a multi-disciplinary team and understand the benefits of individualized programs designed for children with unique intelligences. I am very resourceful and take great pride in my relationships with children and colleagues. I believe in offering the most dynamic and hands-on program possible for children. I have worked in a Montessori setting as a music teacher and was very successful there. I also worked as a children's programmer at the local library for 2 years where I created and managed programs for preschoolers and toddlers. It was wonderful and my sessions were often so full, many had to be placed on waiting lists. I use puppetry, music and props whenever I can. I choose literature rich with speech and language development opportunities. I provide a very consistent learning atmosphere steeped in predictability and engaging learning challenges.
