Early Childhood Educator in Scarborough, Ontario

Presently, I am working as an ECA Volunteer at St. Maria Goretti Elementary School in Jr. and Sr. K.G. classes since September 2015. I am assisting students with their class work, working one-on-one with students requiring additional help with reading and writing and supervising children during snack and recess time. During my two field placements, I worked with infants and pre-school children. I assisted my Supervisor in planning and implementing age appropriate curriculum activities, helped children with their daily routines e.g. eating, serving foods, dressing and toileting, ensured children's safety and security during and after activities, indoor and outdoor play, communicated with parents/families to discuss children’s development and overall well-being, setting-up and closing of the classroom on a daily basis and ensured cleanliness of toys, premises and equipment at all times. I also guided children by positive wordings, offering choices and redirecting which helped them to regulate and maintain self-esteem. I had very strong relationship with the children. I gained those experiences while working with children and I am confident that I can use those skills effectively in my future career. N/A
