Early Childhood Educator in Victoria, British Columbia

I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for 13 years. In that time I have been fortunate enough to work with children of all ages and diverse abilities. Over those 13 years, four were spent as a front line staff, two as a front line supervisor and four as the manager of the centre, and now I am the director of two centers. My responsibilities have changed over the years depending on which position I was in at the time, however I have done everything from planning art experiences, field trips, and circles to staff development, recruitment, retention staff scheduling and developing as well as implementing policies and procedures. I not only love watching children grow and develop but I also enjoy watching my staff/team grow and develop their skills as well. I have always considered myself a teachers teacher. I encourage both children and my team to celebrate their strengths and challenge themselves with their stretches. I believe that creating an inclusive space is of the utmost importance for both children and adults to be successful. For me, this means having a safe space that fosters trust, compassion, and empathy. I truly love working with children, their families and other individuals who are passionate about quality child care. I hold a current BC ECE/ITE License to Practice and well as a current first aid/CPR and clear Criminal Record Check. Every year I actively participate in continuing my education to retain my certification. I have also completed the Community Leadership Program through Leadership Victoria. I have extensive knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations and the Community Care Act. I have a good understanding of the Employment Standards Act.
