Early Childhood Educator in Vancouver, British Columbia

As a volunteer research assistant at UBC\'s Language Development Centre, I engage with infants and children ages 6 months up to 8 years old on a daily basis to complete experiments about child language acquisition. Additionally, I taught English as a Second Language to children 6 years old and up as a summer camp counsellor. In this position, I created my own lesson plans and activities, as well as lead my own classroom of about 15 students while doing fun learning activities. While I was an ESL teacher, I worked with children who had learning disabilities that impacted their ability to follow my lessons and engage with classmates. I made individual study plans and helped my students set their own goals to ensure they learned using strategies suitable to their learning styles. Also, during my volunteering at a primary school, I worked individually with students on emotional self-regulation and conflict resolution who had social anxiety as well as learning disabilities. With these students, I worked with them using different strategies to make them feel more comfortable completing projects.
