I'm an
Individual
Statement of Professional Philosophy of Teaching I am a teacher who considers my profession to be my calling and vocation .I love working with children of all ages. I live for the “AH” moment of a child’s empowerment of the love of learning. As a Montessori teacher I love to create concrete examples for the children to learn. I love to create environments in which they can learn, explore and grow .I love to have the children embody a sense of ownership, responsibility and self-direction in the learning environment. In the past six years I have been a special needs para professional .I have developed individual curriculums channeled to the needs of the specific special needs of the students from grades three to kindergarten .This included constant communication with the regular classroom teacher and continual reassessment to ensure the curriculum meets the changing needs of the student. The success of the special needs child is the hallmark of my career. Furthermore, I have led small groups with a curriculum objectives .Lastly .I have led whole class lessons in the absence of the teacher. The needs of special populations have been the focus of my career in the past thirty years Wherever, I have taught my lessons are based on the levels of Blooms Taxonomy and the philosophies Maria Montessori .I have worked as a full time teacher with special needs students in the inner city of Waterbury ,Connecticut USA , Spanish Harlem, New York State ,USA ,and Basingstoke ,England .I have been privileged to work as a full time classroom teacher with the Cree, Ojibwa and Navajo populations in the United States and in Canada. The similarities of these classroom experiences meant honoring the whole child, developing curriculums to meet the cultural and school expectations and in the forefront of every lesson was the success of the individual child .By incorporating small groups ,hands on experiences ,interactive lessons and whole group instruction “peeks “ the interest of all the students .I love to watch children grow with the multi –dimensions of each lesson. Allowing the growth, independence and academic achievement of each student is the hallmark of all I do and an educator, paraprofessional and a classroom teacher. I would be privileged to work as a member of the faculty at your school. I believe in a facility which within itself is a exciting learning community. I enjoy nurturing and growth which occurs when talents of faculty staff work with all their talents to make a creative education community .I have been involved in afterschool programs and the development and implementation of a co-operative playground stations for grades kindergarten to grade five. I enjoy the exchange of ideas and co-operative learning in developing and implementing programs for the greater success of the whole student body. My leadership shines when I am in the process of the life long journey or all. I would be honored to be a member of your staff in the near future.
