I am the manager of the Crisis Nursery with the Children's Cottage Society of Calgary. Laura L reports to myself. She is a relief Child Support worker and her main role is to care for the children that are admitted to the Crisis Nursery. Laura L is dedicated to caring for children. She is very responsive to their needs and the children really like her. At the Crisis Nursery we care for children newborn to age 8 years old. We can have up to 14 children at any given time. They stay with us for up to 3 days while the parent(s) are in crisis. We prevent abuse and neglect of children as we know this increases as parents become stressed. These children have faced a lot of trauma in their lives and our focus is to mitigate some of the stresses they face and the impact stress causes to their brain. We strive to assist with ensuring appropriate growth and development for the child. Laura understands this trauma process well and has taken a number of courses to gain this understanding such as the Brain Story Certificate through Alberta Family Wellness Initiative. Laura is very willing to learn and even though she is relief she partakes in a number of the educational courses we offer here at the Children's Cottage.

Laura is incredibly good with infants and very trustworthy. She worked with our family for a year and took very good care of our infant from 3-16 months
