Early Childhood Educator in Calgary, Alberta

I have over 28 years experience working with families and children of all ages; newborn to elementary school-aged. This has included program planning of all sorts: theme-based, child-directed, gross & fine motor physical skills development, arts & crafts, sensory experiences, science and math experiments. I am a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills and I am flexible around the needs of the centre and the children. I have excellent observation skills which I feel is a valuable asset to any program. I am able to support each individual child's emotional, social, physical and cognitive development. I have a working knowledge of licensing and accreditation standards (and been through both accreditation and re-accreditation processes) and the ability to put this knowledge into practice on a daily basis. I have the ability to respond quickly and with compassion to children or family's needs and/or concerns. I can bond with children and their families quickly, which helps set boundaries in all kinds of situations. I have clear expectations that I set out for children and yes, children will test those, but I have the experience to realize and expect this. I've been in the situation of helping to write policies, procedures and the program plan for a new centre. I am ultimately looking for a position on the management side of a centre, but still with some time spent with the children.
