Early Childhood Educator in Oakville, Ontario

I wish to apply for the Teaching position at The Oakville Academy for the Arts. I have a Bachelor of Education specializing in Primary/Junior education, and a Master of Education in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from OISE/UT. Presently, I am working at the Peel District School Board in a permanent position as a Designated Early Childhood Educator. I plan and implement a FDK program which emphasizes age appropriate play based learning. Through student directed inquiry, I have designed and facilitated a variety of lessons and have integrated them using a play based approach to learning. My greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating my students. By incorporating creative learning environments, hands-on activities, and fun manipulatives students are able to show their personal best. I have witnessed how Inquiry based learning is a powerful tool for student success. It is amazing to observe how children begin to spontaneously ask questions, explore, plan and communicate their learning. Provocations are a fundamental part in my every day teaching to spark curiosity and desire to learn. All these skills are necessary to promote life-long learners at an early age.
