Early Childhood Educator in Airdrie, Alberta

I'm an
Individual
May 28, 2017 Lori Pado To Whom It May Concern: I am very interested in a position at your company. I have always enjoyed working with children and found great pleasure in playing a role in their journey of discovery. I have been attended Canadore College from 2013-201... for Early Childhood Education and have graduated with honours in May of 2015. It has been a fantastic experience as I have been able to apply this education to almost everything that I do. A lot of what I have learned I have been able to use with my family. I have completed three field placement sessions, one in a daycare, one in a special needs classroom and one in an ELKP classroom. These experiences have affirmed my career choice and I am excited to apply everything I have learned. I recently worked at a Montessori school as a teaching assistant. Some of my duties included; planning circle time, craft time, teaching self-care, and modelling behaviour for the children. I was able to see firsthand how “following the child’s lead” was so effective in motivating the children. Before my husband and I started a family, I worked as a personal support worker for several individuals in Ottawa, ON and after moving to High Level, Alberta. My duties included but were not limited to; personal care, shopping, meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, and transportation to and from hospital, and appointments. I treated each client with dignity and respect and over time developed a friendship with each of them. I have been living in North Bay for the last 9 years, raising a family. I have spent the last 12 years raising my daughter, Emily, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder. During this time I have educated myself in different aspects of A.S.D. treatments. I have taken several courses, some examples are; Hanen” More than Words” training, an Autism Intervener course, “Helping individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder develop social skills”. Emily has recently developed enough independence to allow me to return to the work force. Over the last 7 years I have been active in the community volunteering for Autism Ontario, and forming a support group for parents of children with special needs. For the last two years I have assisted in the management and organization of a F.L.L. Lego Robotics team for adolescents of different capabilities, including those with special needs. While working as a Teachers Aid at the Montessori school, I completed the Montessori Toddler and Twos, NAMC accreditation. This was an intensive course covering the Montessori principles of early childhood education. I think that I could be an excellent addition to your team and am excited at the possibility of working again in my field of study. I would love the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my qualifications. Sincerely, Lori Pado
