Early Childhood Educator in Mississauga, Ontario

I'm an
Agency / Company
I hold a diploma in Early Childhood Education from George Brown College. I am also a current member of the College of Early Childhood Educators under the province of Ontario. Lastly, I possess a certificate of Child Development Supervisor under the licensing regulations of Alberta, Canada. My philosophy is child- focused learning through play. I believe in this because, learning through play is a natural process for children. They do this every day by making connections and testing theories as they interact with their world. In my day to day practices, I focus on the needs and interests of the children. I encourage collaborative and interactive learning. I believe that children thrive in programs that engage their curiosity and nurture their sense of self. Hence, this is why I love to do activities in which children are the center of attention, activities such as group work and role playing. These activities help children improve their self-esteem and confidence. It allows them to learn in a fun and engaging way. I have knowledge of the Days Nursery Act and its regulations, as well as the Early Years and childcare Framework curriculum. Working with this curriculum, I view each child as a born learner and citizen of our community. Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to work with school age children, preschoolers and infants. I also did several placements working with different age groups at George Brown College. In my work experience at the Edmonton Islamic Academy Preschool, I was an English Literacy Teacher to 16 preschoolers, where I created literacy activities through play. I also prepared weekly newsletters and documentation to keep families updated on their childs learning. Education is the medium through which we can not only better our lives but that of our families. This sentiment is the governing doctrine of The Terra Home Child and Family center. While working there, I provided young mothers with the assistance they require to ensure their future is not compromised nor their potential stymied by early parenthood. To this end, I provided support for the mothers and their infants through on a daily basis. While working with infants, I quickly learnt that these early years are very crucial and formative. I ensured that infants were afforded a safe and secure learning environment wherein they can navigate the world and develop uninhibited. While working at the Clareview YMCA, I was the ECE in the classroom responsible for providing nurturing care. I did this while facilitating everyday learning opportunities in a fun developmentally appropriate way. As I planned daily activities, I reflect on how learning happens to meet the goals and expectations of each child. I understand every child has different learning styles and this is why I incorporate various learning techniques into my class. For those who are auditory learners, I like to have them listen to stories and music. For those who are tactile learners, I have them take part in hands on activities such as role playing, building and constructing. As such, I like setting up my classroom with a wide variety of activities while meeting the play to learn standards and the Early learning Framework. This gives every child the freedom to explore. More importantly, I am highly skilled in planning and implementing curriculum that best suits the needs of children as individuals while acknowledging them as citizens of our community. I also write documentations based on interests and observations. In addition to preparing newsletters and learning stories that highlight the childrens learning while referencing the curriculum. For this reason, I am seeking a position where I can apply my experiences in the field of early childhood education and enhance your institutions goal of delivering a developmentally appropriate early childhood education. My experience as a Childhood Educator is supplemented by my strong organizational and time management skills which are evidenced in my consistent ability to prioritize based on urgency bringing about the best possible results. My computer literacy is impressive to say the least. My communication skills allow me to quickly and easily build rapport. I can also be trusted with positions of leadership to effectively and efficiently accomplish business goals. I feel that my greatest and most beneficial quality is that I am adaptable.
