Jody Degi Markham To Whom It May Concern, Over the last 8 years, I have worked as an E.C.A. at a Montessori school as well as in childcare centers with children ranging from 18 months up to 10 years old including experience working with children with ASD on a daily basis. I have my E.C.A. Diploma and levels 1, 2 and 3 Community Childcare Training Program certificates. I have attended and continue to attend many workshops and various online courses. I believe that working with children is my true calling, it is my passion and what I love doing best! I am energetic, fun loving, enthusiastic, young at heart, motivated, reliable and very dedicated and passionate about my work with children! I worked with the preschoolers as an Early Childhood Assistant at Upper Canada Child Care. I have worked with before and after-school children, as well as toddlers. In this role, I was given the responsibility of leading the classroom or being fully responsible for a group of 8 children on a daily basis. I've even had mentorship roles for students attending our programs. I take pride in my work with children and always give 150%. I enjoy teaching them and watching them grow. I ensure that I apply patience, humor, positive reinforcement, guidance and lots of love and understanding. I believe in helping them become the best they can be and ensuring they reach their full potential as able, competent and capable human beings. I aim to be a positive role model and always offer them all the attention, guidance, love and reassurance they need. I have organized and helped facilitate the preschoolers music concert, the annual food, toy and sock drives and parent engagement nights, the Butterflyway project and worked closely with the children to complete their own books. I am an avid supporter of reading and encourage a respect for books and a love of reading. I also have a love for exercise, Wellness, dance and music. They are all they are important key elements to an enriched learning experience and connection to one another, with no boundaries, supporting a sense of belonging, well being, engagement and expression, as are the acting principles based on the four foundations of learning. At the Montessori I worked at, I managed the Toddler Room with a capacity of five children. When I first started there, I was performing my hours required when I was taking my E.C.A. After 2 months, I was hired on a part-time basis while I was in school. Upon completion of my Diploma, I was hired full-time. I was also the Chairperson on the Kids Committee where I live organizing special events for the children. I have finished several online courses on Autism and special needs, language too, and also an online course on writing children’s books as it’s been a long-time goal of mine.
