I have a master’s degree in Psychology (Mental Health Counseling). I gained invaluable experience working with children in an after-school program setting as an assistant counselor. While I was volunteering at this program I designed, planned and implemented activities for developmentally disabled children. Assisted children and teens to socialize with peers to promote their social and emotional development. Assisted children and teens to work on activities provided by the head counselor. Counseled children displaying unruly behavior on the importance of respect, kindness, and understanding through positive reinforcement. Informed parents of children's behavioral and observed social withdrawal issues and mentored and tutored children on math, reading, and speech. I also have experience working as an assistant Pre-K teacher where I assisted in supervising all activates to insure the safety of each child at all times. Assisted the assigned teacher in providing a variety of appropriate activates to promote the child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development and assisted in the arrangement and upkeep of classrooms, classroom equipment and materials as directed by supervising teacher.
