Early Childhood Educator in Scarborough, Ontario

Teaching profession is a very tough job. Through my 15 years in teaching I have numerous ups and downs during my career. I had 68 pupils in my class and my experience varies each year. There were years that I had pupils that are very difficult to handle. They don’t want to listen and do the work which I gave to them, they disturbed other pupils. As a teacher I used different types of teaching strategies. And it is my task to find out not only what motivates each pupil to learn but also what motivates them to misbehave. In my years of teaching I learned that my pupils need love and affection and through it I learned so much about teaching and dealing with my pupils. It was a great challenged for me when our principal asked me to accept the pupils with special needs. They called it mainstreaming. I was teaching normal pupils. I had two blind pupils and one with difficulty in following complicated directions or remembering directions for extended periods of time. With these kinds of pupils demand more time and patience. The two blind pupils can easily get the lesson while the other one needs more time. I had to sit beside him and explain again the lesson until he can understand. These pupils need differentiated instruction tailored to their distinctive learning abilities
