Early Childhood Educator in Victoria, British Columbia

I have ample experience working with children, including; 4 years as a gymnastics coach and gymnastics summer camp counsellor, over 10 years of private childcare, 4 years as a music teacher and assistant music therapist in groups as well as 1:1 settings. I also have experience planning and implementing summer camps and summer camp activities. In addition, I completed Music Together training (music classes for parents and tots), along with a ten week internship with a certified Music Together school. My experience with children with special needs has been largely in music class, summer camp and music therapy settings. In these positions, I helped regulate behaviour and emotions of children with ADHD, autism, and Down's Syndrome, in an effort to attain their engagement in group as well as individual activities. Other goals included increasing social interaction and skills, learning music, learning cooperation, as well as increasing focus. When I participated in camps for children with special needs, there were also participants with physical needs (wheel chairs, walkers, hearing , etc). The goal was to adapt activities in order to include all children in every activity.
