Early Childhood Educator in Toronto, Ontario

I have been volunteering as a Student-Teacher for many years now. I have a very strong interest in pursuing a teaching career. I have created daily lesson plans using reality-based discussion, and hands on activities. I have also maintained classroom management using a daily bell ringer, solid agenda, prompts and one-on-one check-ins. Not only that but I have created personalized learning plans after school for students with special needs. This plan helped assist with lesson comprehension. I was also given the chance to mentor and tutor 12 students who required special academic and emotional support. I particularly enjoyed working with "at-risk" children. This required careful preparation of lessons, and allowed me to break down complicated concepts into simple examples that my young students could grasp. There is that little girl in my class that has been diagnosed with autism. She didn't talk, didn't interact with other children, clung to adults and waited for adults to tell her what to do. So I decided to take extra care for her and thought her play skills by modelling and playing with her.
